Realistic well thought out sci-fi
An interesting angle on first contact, well thought out and well paced. Nicely developed characters who felt genuine.

"No right or wrong ...
... just different degrees of accuracy."
A scientist, a soldier, an American teenage youth and a girl who has grown up in a village in the African forests are at the epicentre of an alien arrival. A really delightfully different tale of first contact, remarkable for this taking place somewhere other than the United States of America, if for no other reason. But there is so much more: the noise and magic of the jungle and it's inhabitants, scientific ideas and theories, explained with clarity, action, excitement and a good story. Altogether a delight and especially perfect for teens and young adults ( although us oldies will bask in the pleasures of this science fiction story, too).
A great read, performed by Kevin T.Collins with charm and great skill, and definitely recommended to all who ever look up at the stars with wonder.

No chapter numbers - annoying
The story is OK. Better than some other stuff on Audible. But I found it a little shallow. Performance was decent.
Most annoying is the decision to forgo chapter numbers and go for titles instead. These mean nothing to listeners. Dumb idea! If you accidentally move too far ahead, the chapter number tells you.
What idiot thought this was a good idea for an audiobook?

Wellsian Light (in a good way)
🧡 Think War of the Worlds but a smidge lighter in tone meets Armageddon, teen edition. Good fun, very entertaining.
💚 It does drag a bit in points and on the other hand there’s not enough development of characters, but I’d say the same of Wells, so…

SOUNDBITE
🎧 This is mostly told from the perspective of a 15 year old and Kevin T. Collins is not that. I think it would have been a more authentic perspective from a younger voice BUT there again, lots of older characters and shifting dialogues, which he does well. He is a very engaging performer overall.
🎧 About three quarters was very easy and morish. It lagged a bit towards the end, but remained very listenable.

Decent but long winded at times
Good story and enjoyed the depth but the narrator was a touch slow and made it feel long winded and somewhat depleted the actual intensity of the story

A great yarn
Built on a essence of reality it made a great change to read science fiction instead of fantasy.

A must read for sci fi fans
This is a great novel. From the first sentence a highly intelligent, captivating and beautifully told story. Every character was enthralling and fascinating as was their internal world. I am left wanting the story to go on.
Thank you.

Intriguing
Five stars for being brave enough to admit that the source material comes from the Bible. Brilliant story; I really enjoyed listening to it. How about playing with the idea that the book of Genesis states that Adam was told that if he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and bad that he would die? Play with the concept please, Mr Cawdron … Kerry
