Dr Josephine Perry recommends...

The Ten Pillars of Success was written during the Covid pandemic when we were all struggling to navigate ambiguity, fear and a lack of autonomy. As someone working closely with people who have learnt to handle these pressures, I felt I was in a privileged position to identify the characteristics that help them, and research how they could be replicated by more of us. The first three were easy; belonging, mastery and autonomy are well established motivational factors. Purpose, process, confidence and courage were equally clear as they are seen every day in sporting success. Internal insight and optimism surprised me but the research showed they are critical to success. And with nine pillars in place, it was clear that gratitude is vital to appreciate what we have. The five books I have chosen feed into one, or more, of the ten pillars of success.

They are capable of so much, but only have so many hours in the day. Essentialism helps them lose the indecision, guilt and fear to see it is better to spend those hours working on what matters to you, than overwhelming your time with the things that don’t.'
