Summary

One rightful vampire queen. Five irresistible vampire men. Together, they'll sever the crown - or maybe the traitor's head that wears it.

Wren has a dark obsession - to find her mother's murderers before they find her. Every new singing gig brings her closer to crossing their names from her list.

When a detective shows up with a new lead, she jumps at the chance with fangs bared.

But to get the info they need, they’ll have to bust someone out of jail.

Sure. No problem.

Ashe has just been framed for high crimes against the Southern Vampire Clan - but he’s not exactly innocent either.

While waiting for his fate, a five-pointed star tattoo appears on his wrist, similar to the tattoo of a stunning platinum-haired vampire. The sudden attraction between them is undeniable. Better yet, she's just offered to free him.

Sounds like a great deal. So what's the catch?

Turns out, as their enemies close in, the catch could very well be their lives.

Emergence is a paranormal royal why-choose romance in the Sever the Crown series. Wren connects with another of her men in each book - and learns how their fates are all intricately intertwined. Each book ends in a cliffhanger.

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧Fascinating & Riveting

I loved everything about this book, from Mysti Parker & Lindsey R. Loucks’ writing style to the fascinating story and characters they created to Melissa Schwairy’s fabulous narration. The story is original with interesting and imaginative storylines that captivated my attention from start to end. There is great world building and character development. The characters are likable, easy to relate to and connect with. I adored the lead, Wren, a lone vampire who is on a mission to avenge the brutal murder of her mother. It was always just her and her Mom, she was young when her Mother was killed but she survived on her own because her Mom taught her well. Incognito she performs in a bar under a different identity, Melody Songsmith, she is about to get one of her Mom’s killers but she attracts the attention of another who claims he wants the same as her, to find those responsible for her mother’s death. Wren takes a leap of faith and trusts Zac, she has not been in the know of things and has a lot to learn. She and Zac help get Ashe out of prison, he was falsely accused of two different crimes, someone seriously wanted him locked up. Things get even more weird for Zach and Wren, matching tattoos appear on their wrists. Is this fate, were they destined to be together, she then learns she is destine to more than one mate. Making matters even more complicated she finds out her Mother was the Queen of The Southern Vampire clan, she had gone into hiding with Wren for their safety. Now some is after Wren, the same people who tried to keep her and Ashe apart and possible the same who are responsible for her mother’s death. My guess is Ravena, the now reigning Queen and an Aunt Wren never knew she had. This book is an awesome start to an amazing series, the story is cleverly potted and there is never a dull moment. There is plenty of drama, a bit of angst, some great, snarky humor, action, twists and turns, some thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt moments and some hot romance. Mysti Parker & Lindsey R. Loucks, thank you for this fantastic story, I am looking forward to what comes next for these amazing characters.

Melissa Schwairy is a fabulous narrator and voice artist. She brings the characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. She does an amazing job portraying the characters, giving them that southern charm and capturing their persona to a tee. She is great with the dialogue and snark too. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen🎧

Good

I enjoyed this book, I like the build up of the story there is plenty going on, and it is a little unusual, I do not know where the storyline is going, and definitely want to listen to more in the series.

Plot driven, slow burnFirst of all, Melissa Schwai

First of all, Melissa Schwairy's voice talent in this audiobook is truly excellent. I love her accent and her ability to switch between male and female characters convincingly.
She really gave this book an added dimension and brought it to life for me.

The book is slow going in the harem build, with only one firm member of her harem bagged by the end of the book but it does have some bedroom scenes (and shower scenes!) but it makes up for it in action and character development.

Wren has been on the run her entire life but is only just starting to find out who she is and what her role could be in vampire society, something she never knew existed. She's used to fighting to defend herself but now the stakes (ha. stakes.) are higher and she has to fight for her future and her mate.

This is some well written and enjoyable urban fantasy, heavy on the court intrigue and suspense.

Excellent!

I received this book free for a honest review.

Wren has been going around the country playing gigs whilst catching up and killing the men who killed her mother.
One night she is approached by Zack a detective who tells her he has a new lead she takes off with him tentatively.
He tells her they have to break Ashe out of a high security vampire prison where’s he been framed for crimes against the Souther Vampire Clan. Wren notices she has a 5 pointed star on her wrist that starts to tingle the nearer she gets to Ashe and whilst Ashe is waiting for his fate the same sign appears on his wrist.
Zack informs her she has to connect with her 5 mates and that she is the rightful Vampire Queen and her mother was killed in a power play to take over the throne by her aunt who is still on the throne . They have to keep ahead of enemies out to kill them and a bounty hunter who’s just out for the money she will bring that is until he lets her go but she doesn’t want to face the reason why he did that.
Wren is such a headstrong but likeable FMC and her interactions with Zack made me think he might be one of her consorts but he’s not a Vampire , her interactions with Ashe are explosive from the start and the sexual tension just jumps out at you.

The True Vampire Queen

I received the audiobook in exchange for a honest review. If you are looking for a book with adventure, suspense, a lot of twists and turns and Vampires, this is the book for you. Ren/Melody is a strong, independent vampiress who grew up on her own because her mother was murdered. She slowly gains memories of her past. Zach is the human who knows who she is and who she is to become and diligently protects her on the journey. Ash is the first of her mates that was wrongly accused of her mother's murder and was incarcerated in a cement prison. And fedora is the vampire private detective that set up Ash and is the second mate found. This book had me trying to figure out what other position Zach is to play. This fast pace exciting story ends in a cliff hanger that had me tearing my hair out. I can't wait for book 2 to continue this intriguing path the four will face. I recommend listening to this audiobook and finding out what happens next. Great book. You will also love the southern drawl of Melissa Schwairy, the narrator.

Brought the book to life

I always worry when a book I’ve really enjoyed is released on audio in case the story is spoiled by the narration. Definitely not the case this time. The narrator really brought the characters to life. Not for a younger audience due to the adult language and scenes. If you enjoy a good reverse harem series, this is definitely one to add to your library

Action packed vampire romance

I loved this book, it was fast paced and action packed with a killer conspiracy plot that grabbed my attention right from the beginning, before I knew it I had finished and was desperate for the next book. There were so many twists and turns it keeps you on your toes, and a lot of hidden memories for Wren to recover, and through it all I was left wondering what part Zack was playing, who is he to Wren? I need the next book!! Melissa Schwairy's narration was wonderful as always.
