Xacier was once king of the proud Kell Empire, but after his cousin's betrayal, he is enslaved in the fighting arena. The only way to survive? Kill everyone and be the champion. With his strength and skill, only a few battles now stand between Xacier and his freedom, and he will stop at nothing to get out and get his revenge.

But when a human woman is thrown into the arena, Xacier will find himself fighting to defend her, at the risk of losing his freedom—and his life.

Samantha is crossing the galaxy to visit her ailing mother when she is sold to the Frirens and tossed into the middle of an arena battle. Completely out of her element, her only hope of making it out of here alive lies with the strong and ruthless alien who claims her as his prize.

Winning their freedom won't be easy, though, and even if they do make it out together, Samantha isn't sure she'll be able to part ways with this warrior who captured her body and her heart.

No cliff-hangers, no cheating, HEA guaranteed!

Samantha has been working herself hard trying to ensure that she has enough to keep her mother in the hospital and cover the medical expenses. She is scraping by but given the last communication from the hospital she feels that she needs to go and see her mother in person. She has been so work focused for so long and she has no other outlet. Trying to pcik the best of bad bunch of ships she ends up selecting the one which she can at least afford although later she finds out the reason for that all of which gets her dumped as a prize in a fighting arena. Xacier for his part is paying, possibly with is life, for one of the most stupid decisions he ever made. If he can just survive the next three days then he will be granted his freedom and he can set everything right. Nothing can stop him, well not exactly nothing.... a small human female in a pink dress is apparently what it takes.
Chapters just the right length to have a couple on the way to and from work. Narration was good.

A lot happens in a fairly short listen. The main story is of fated mates from different alien species. The start is like Gladiator the movie in the fighting arena. This is a guaranteed happy ending with plenty of cross specie spicy scenes. Overall the narration is great, very entertaining. I highly recommend this audiobook. It won’t disappoint.

Samantha is travelling to visit her poorly mother when a disagreement with the captain of the ship lands her in big trouble. She is handed over to slavers and ends up being claimed by an alien gladiator who is working to win his freedom, and to reclaim his kingdom. As time goes on they grow closer.

Although I liked the book Samantha comes across as rather dumb. She makes bad decisions even though the evidence/her intuition is telling her not to, and in the face of danger she makes light of the situation, almost jovial. For ex, when she is about to be assaulted by the captain or killed in the arena, she doesn't seem to take it seriously and has a "phew, nearly got me" attitude and just carries on. In that sense the character wasn't very believable. Other than that I really enjoyed the book and would be interested in reading a book 2 if that was to follow.

I was given this book for free of my own choosing and I voluntarily left this review.

Wonderful narration from Hunter Wolf

This story is action-packed and has twists, turns, suspense, mystery, chemistry and romance.

Samantha does everything she can do to pay for her mother’s hospital care. Working long hours, but when she needs to get to the hospital as her mother’s health has turned worse. Finding herself on maybe the worse space ship to get there fast turns her world even more upside down. It’s not long before she finds herself in a gladiator arena. Xacier is regretting a decision he made as he finds himself fighting for his life. All he has to is stay alive for three day and he is then free. But when a human female arrives he is fighting not just for him.
I liked Xacier he is an alien with honour and Samatha may need a bit of shake.
