Read by Ursula Jones, the third title in the stunning Chrestomanci series.

SOMEONE IN THIS CLASS IS A WITCH

When the note, written in ordinary ballpoint, turns up in the homework books Mr Crossley is marking, he is very upset. For this is Larwood House, a school for witch-orphans, where witchcraft is utterly forbidden. And yet magic keeps breaking out all over the place – like measles!

The last thing they need is a visit from the Divisional Inquisitor. If only Chrestomanci could come and sort out all the trouble…

Eleştirmen yorumları

“…Her hallmarks include laugh-aloud humour, plenty of magic and imaginative array of alternate worlds. Yet, at the same time, a great seriousness is present in all of her novels, a sense of urgency that links Jones’s most outrageous plots to her readers’ hopes and fears…”
Publishers Weekly

“Truly magical – guaranteed to leave you gasping – even hotter than Potter”
The Bookseller

“Diana Wynne Jones could teach Stephen King and JK Rowling a thing or two … [she] has a skill for inserting just the right amount of detail in her written words, leaving you satiated but not stuffed.” SFX

What made the experience of listening to Witch Week the most enjoyable?

A fun story, well written and the editing was well done. The children loved it. But I' don't understand why it was abridged!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Witch Week?

The arrival of Chrestomanci.

Any additional comments?

I found the narration a bit stagey and some of the voices were not at all how I had heard them when I first read it. But it was a good listen nevertheless.

Shame it's abridged

Having read this many times as a child I was pleased to find that this performance matched well with my own imagined version. The worlds of Chrestomanci beat hogwarts any day!
