Newly revised version now read by award-winning narrator Sean Runnette!

From birth to death, The War is all the citizens of Dystance know. As children it is drilled into their heads that war is the purpose behind all existence.

Winter doesn't agree. She's stumbled across remnants of life the way it was before The War began, and now she longs to be as free as her ancestors.

With help from her best friend, Cedar, and the boy she is forbidden to love, Tallow, she believes she can do it. Winter can see a life beyond the Pickets, beyond the constant hunger and the threat of death, beyond the war machine.

Can one teenage girl and her dream of a better life really change the whole world?

If you're a Tufo fan, this story is very different to his others but no less entertaining or affecting. If you haven't read Tufo before, don't expect all his stories to be like this. What is no different however, is his fabulous storytelling and wonderfully alive characters.

I listened to he original version when it was first released and enjoyed the story. This is definitely a smoother listen and he change to Sean Runnette makes it feel like a "proper" Tufo story.

A different but no less brilliant Tufo story

As always, Mark Tufo writes with sheer excellence, captivating the audience.
Yet another series, full of twists, turns and references back to the Talbot theme, absolutely loved it

Excellent

good books but for my taste the overtly sexist which spoils it a bit, still a good story line though

good listen
