Six years is a long time, but memories and his harsh teachings are what remain imprinted upon Auska's soul...and, in the end, his compassion - sacrifice - for her, a girl who was nothing more than a burden thrust upon his solitary ways.

Sanctuary is safe and secure with its strict policies, offering a life anyone on the outside of its walls would kill to have; the world has only grown crueler and more dangerous through the years.

The cure was a farce, and even if it hadn't been, the technology and resources have long since been depleted in the crumbling world of man. Only one true cure remains - he had it right all along....

Fuller does it once again with his tight prose and realistic characters. There is no rest, no breathing space in this novel as we experience the apocalypse through Auska's eyes. This novel is as relentless as book 1 and probably even grimmer as the dead are the least of the worries faced.

Pohlman's narration is clear with no noticeable breaks or issues.

Even darker than book 1

I loved the first book so had to listen to this one and was not disappointed. It follows on so well from the first and the excitement carries on right until the last line. Again the narrator was brilliant. Another great book that I recommend

After finishing book one WHAT REMAINS i dove straight back into Auska’s world . I couldn’t believe what happened in book one so i had to see why it happened and the way that this book would move forward. I was not disappointed Auska is all grown up and fighting her own battles and those of the people she cares for, she also comes to realise she can go on and make a life and not live with regrets of the past. Full bloodied action from the start and i am again back in the dystopian world i have enjoyed so much and felt to be part of.

What the hell !!!!!

Loved the Continuation of the story from what remains, glad the story was of Esca and how she lived. Fantastic telling of a girl who lost her father figure but strives to live after his passing.
Great Narrator vary easy to listen to and keeps your attention.
