It’s charming it’s magical and it’s a police procedural. It’s really my jam. I just know I’m gonna inhale the other four books.

This is really good, the story is gripping the narration it’s fantastic!

The plot is well-paced and suitably spooky, and the characters are interesting. The whole is let down by the poor quality of the narration. The performer is expressive, but the very frequent mispronunciations and oddly placed emphases are really distracting. The director/producer didn't do the listener or the narrator any favours by failing to correct these. I doubt I'll get the next book in the series.

Loved this story and the protagonist is very like-able. As a huge Rivers of London fan (actual books and audio) I was trepidatious in trying a new take on the London magical realism cop angle but the plot is super; it works. Some very funny lines and witticisms. Very good descriptions of place and atmosphere. I did rather struggle with the vocal performance which was very, very fast paced and had a constant and rather exhausting sense of urgency and some very odd inflections and stresses on unexpected words which made it quite hard to follow. I hope the second instalment is read at a more relaxed pace.

Loved the story and excited to start another DI series with a little supernatural. I slowed the narrative speed down slightly for ease of listening .

I just didn’t click with this. I didn’t find anything to particularly interest me in the main characters and the villains were so vaguely drawn that in my mind I still don’t have a visual hold on them. It’s not very bad, it’s just not great.
