Clive Barker has made his mark on modern fiction by exposing all that is surreal and magical in the ordinary world - and exploring the profound and overwhelming terror that results. With its volatile mix of the fantastical and the contemporary, the everyday and the otherworldly, Weaveworld is an epic work of dark fantasy and horror - a tour de force from one of today's most forceful and imaginative artists.

Brilliant fantastique fiction, but Simon Vance can not do a scouse, or any type of northern, accent- in fact all of his voices are horrible- especially Immacolata, he manages to turn one of my all-time-favourite antagonists into a unthreatening school ma'am, but even his own voice is rubbish; he butchers place names, and places emphasis in weird places in sentences like he hasn't passed even a cursory glance over the text before reading. Weaveworld deserves so much better than this!
I was looking forward to the Audible version of Dracula, but Vance is involved with that as well, so I'll be giving it a miss.

Wonderful story, with truly terrible narration.

I struggled to read this book in its entirety when it was first published years ago..was great to be able to listen to it and finally finish it..brilliant imagination and visualisations.

What did you like most about Weaveworld?

The imagination of this writer is wonderful i felt as if i were part of the weave. It is very cleverly written, i have read most books written by Clive Barker and as yet i haven't found one that was disagreeable. This was the first Clive Barker book that i have listened to rather than read and it gave me a good excuse to get a lot of work done and actually with very little sleep i'd finished it in two days. If you have a good imagination, like books that lead you astray yet ties in all but one loose end then you will thoroughly enjoy Weaveworld.

Who was your favorite character and why?

This is a difficult question to answer, Cal of course caught my interest but i found him annoying and at times wanted to shake him but i am not sure if this due to the voice that Simon Vance gave him or because the voice didn't fit the person i had imagined him to be. However, I did rather like Jericho

Which character – as performed by Simon Vance – was your favourite?

Shadwell, i disliked everything about him but he was a wondeful character.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was enthralled when Suzzanna reached the Temple and discovered what the Loom actually was.

I just couldn't stop listening, a damned fine book

I remember reading this about 10 years ago and remember loving it.... when it came to the audio book however, I couldn't get into it. The accents were a real distraction and I think this stopped me getting into the book.... I must have listened to about 6 hours but at least have of that I was switched off....

a struggle
