A young woman finds herself caught up in a scam which may cost her the one thing she values more than her life....

Cassie Black has been lured back to the criminal profession she gave up--robbing gamblers of their winnings--by a proposition that is just too good to miss. The job goes as planned except that the target has too much money. It can only mean someone very powerful is going to be very angry indeed.

Cassie finds herself on the run from a killer who seems to know her every move in advance. Worse still, he is closing in on the one thing Cassie will do anything to protect.

I always find it interesting when an author writes from the perspective of the opposite sex. Michael Connelly does this really well. His heroines, both Cassie in this book and Renee Ballard in other books are a joy to follow. This is one of my favourite books...I love Bosch but really enjoyed the female perspective.

Cassie arrives fully formed but damaged by the events in her life. I enjoyed her daring and street smarts, immaculate planning where something goes wrong...and the story was full of twists...some predictable but most were unexpected. The reader did a good job and I enjoyed the story.

Please Mr. Connelly...write a sequel! I want to know what Cassie did next.

A WORTHY FEMALE

Every now and then the book slipped into a slower pace, with far too much detail (like placing a GPS tracker) but otherwise, I found the story really drew me in with some great reveals along the way.

Gripping Story

Great story, impressive detail and well drawn characters. Just enough twists and a brilliant reading.

Great story, well read

Loved this book, the narrator was very engaging. However the book itself skipped in places!

Fab book, really enjoy it 😀

Another excellent piece of story telling by Michael Connelly spoilt only by the poor sound that kept skipping on various places like a CD in a car on a very bumpy road 20 years ago!!!

great story. Poor sound quality
