“It's the compelling characters...who give the work a feeling of depth that separates it from other works in the genre.” (Kirkus Reviews)

Set in late 18th-century Philadelphia, this “engaging historical romance” (Booklife) spans seven years in the lives of three young Britons who meet while crossing the Atlantic in search of a new beginning.

David, a Scot newly apprenticed to a Philadelphia printer, and Elisabeth, a young Englishwoman with a class-conscious father, fall in love on the journey. Liam, an orphaned Scot with a checkered past, becomes a steadfast friend to them both.

Bound by a life-changing voyage, the three establish unwavering ties of friendship, love, and loyalty until Elisabeth is forced to make a choice that may shatter their friendship and alter their paths.

Rich in historical detail, the story chronicles their coming of age against the vivid backdrop of the developing United States of America.

“Sweeping over almost a decade of American life, Voices Beckon offers a winning romance against a finely realized backdrop. Readers who appreciate the complexity of history will welcome Graham's clear-eyed treatment...and Graham's narrative momentum never gets bogged down.”(BookLife Reviews, editor's pick)

An interesting story following the lives of three young people as they meet the challenges of life's fortunes in America shortly after the War of Independence. Alex Wyndham's narration is excellent, his warm, rich & expressive tone makes him my favourite narrator especially for romantic fiction. There are three books in this series and I have listened to the first two, the third being as yet unrecorded. I trust this will become available in due course & the author has more romantic fiction to offer.

A thoroughly satisfying listen.
