Full cast fantasy audiobooks have officially ruined normal audiobooks for me.

I am absolutely OBSESSED with Under the Iron Sky. The world-building is incredible, the characters are complex and brilliantly developed and the plot just gets bigger and more shocking the further you get into the story.

Soraya is such an incredible FMC. Her development from the frightened girl she once was into an absolute force to be reckoned with was one of my favourite parts of the book. She is resilient, fierce and completely badass, but still has enough vulnerability to make her feel incredibly real.

Then there’s our Demon. I genuinely spent this entire book switching between loving him and wanting to scream at him. He is such a complicated character, and discovering just how much he has sacrificed to protect everything he loves made me adore him even more. The tension and banter between them also provide the perfect moments of lightness amongst an otherwise incredibly heavy story of war, loss, betrayal and survival.

But the AUDIO?!

Absolutely phenomenal.

Listening to this with a full cast completely transformed the experience. Every character felt distinct, the emotional scenes hit harder, and the action and tension became unbelievably immersive. There were moments where I genuinely forgot I was listening to an audiobook because it felt more like experiencing a performance.

The narration perfectly complemented an already incredible story, particularly as the secrets started unravelling and the true scale of the plot became clear.

And THAT ENDING?!

I need the next instalment immediately.

An incredible story paired with an exceptional full-cast performance. This is exactly how epic fantasy should be experienced on audio.
