Özet

It’s the 1st of June 1914 and Hugh Stanton, ex-soldier and celebrated adventurer is quite literally the loneliest man on earth. No one he has ever known or loved has been born yet. Perhaps now they never will be.

Stanton knows that a great and terrible war is coming. A collective suicidal madness that will destroy European civilization and bring misery to millions in the century to come. He knows this because, for him, that century is already history.

Somehow he must change that history. He must prevent the war. A war that will begin with a single bullet. But can a single bullet truly corrupt an entire century?

And, if so, could another single bullet save it?

A cracking thriller
Time and Time Again triumphs and it’s the best I’ve read of Elton’s many bestsellers
A gripping, unpredictable read

Fast paced thriller about an attempt to reorder the course of history using a loophole identified by Issac Newton. As with most of Ben Elton's stories, the novel just doesn't go where you expect it to go - in a good way. Jot Davies' excellent narration delivers the urgency required whilst keeping clear characterisation. Recommended.

If you could sum up Time and Time Again in three words, what would they be?

Clever, engaging idea,

What was one of the most memorable moments of Time and Time Again?

Return to the cellar

What about Jot Davies’s performance did you like?

His characterisation and tone for Hugh Stanton was spot on

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

A couple of "oh no" moments because of sympathy for fate of Hugh

Any additional comments?

Another brilliant Ben Elton book, thought provoking and clever but written with a light touch. Slightly fizzled out at the end but no idea how a better ending could have been achieved

Really gripping but slightly ran out of steam

More excellent writing from Ben Elton. A very clever and complex central theme, spun into a believable sequence of alternatives which become reality as a result of designed changes to key events in world history. But more than just a litany of imaginings of possible other realities. Ben also warns 'to be careful of what you wish for' and 'that the road to Hell is paved with good intentions' with some unexpected twists thrown in for good measure. Loved it.

Well crafted. Totally enjoyable

Brilliantly written, twisting and thought provoking plot coupled to excellent narration, makes for a cracking listen.

A contender for my best audio book 2015

I really enjoyed this interesting book although I became very sick and tired of the "hero" having long repetitive thoughts about the result of his actions over and over and over again. A good edit might have helped. But the overall concept was interesting and the history fascinating. The twist towards the end was particularly interesting and I was agog to see where Elton would take it. I have to say it ended as a total cop out for me - like he couldn't figure out how to stop so just did. So only three stars and in fact I almost gave it two as I feel quite cheated by Mr Elton. Shame.

Great, terrific....until a truly terrible ending
