Rowan and Citra take opposite stances on the morality of the Scythedom, putting them at odds, in the chilling sequel to the Printz Honor Book Scythe from New York Times best seller Neal Shusterman, author of the Unwind dystology.
The Thunderhead cannot interfere in the affairs of the Scythedom. All it can do is observe — it does not like what it sees.
A year has passed since Rowan had gone off grid. Since then, he has become an urban legend, a vigilante snuffing out corrupt scythes in a trial by fire. His story is told in whispers across the continent.
As Scythe Anastasia, Citra gleans with compassion and openly challenges the ideals of the "new order". But when her life is threatened and her methods questioned, it becomes clear that not everyone is open to the change.
Will the Thunderhead intervene?
Or will it simply watch as this perfect world begins to unravel?

I really don't like when stories do this as to me personally it smacks of a lack of imagination on the part of the writer to leave a villain behind and witness the aftermath of their demise. So much more could've been done to explore the New Order faction without Goddard, under new leadership, how would they evolve? how would they change? Unfortunately we get the Star Wars esque - somehow Palpatine has returned storyline.
Don't get me wrong the story and everything blends in with it well and I totally see how some people wouldn't be bothered by it because it is well explained in the story. However, for me personally it sort of diminished the first book's culminating showdown and character development for Rowan.
Good but not as good.

I actually enjoyed this book better than the first one. There was so much more content and I really enjoyed the all the characters and how each of them interacted with each other. It was nice following each of the junior Scythes in the own day to day world and how they where both different but both within their own battle and it was nice to see them come together from time to time. There is still the question I have which is will they, won't they. But I'm sure something will happen in the third and final book. There were also other characters within the book which we got to follow, of which we never got a conclusion of stories and roles.
The "actual" Thunder Head, what can I say. An amazing part of each chapter I loved reading. A computer/database which almost seems to have emotion. And the telling of what it can and cannot do, but would like to do if it could was so absorbing it made me sympathetic.
With all these unanswered questions and with the book finishing on a cliff hanger, I am very intrigued to see where it all ends.
Brilliant
