Young John Gray was the only boy ever to flunk out of Marcia Van Scoy’s School of Ballroom Dancing. And that was after he had repeated the class. Twice. No surprise then, that he had a love/hate relationship with his best friend, Peter, who could float and cavort with pure abandon. No wonder dancing became the metaphor for John’s entire life, and for his sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking three-decade pilgrimage in search of his own dance, with rollicking Peter always nearby, if sometimes disastrously so.
In Then You Dance, through laughter, tears, and delightfully unforgettable characters, you will learn why, irrefutably, God is a capitalist. You will discover the only church in the world named “Holy Name of Mary First United Presbyterian Church”. You will meet the Sunday school teacher bound to become your favorite atheist. You will discover how starlit wilderness canoe trips can blend breathtaking tableau with torturous angst, and you will learn how, from this astonishing parade of people and events, unbelievable joy and celebration can result.
Then You Dance is powerfully narrated by actor, public speaker, poet, playwright, and author George William Walker.
