Their wedding was the event of the season...

A shy wallflower, Caroline hasn't the faintest idea why the Duke of Readington chose her to be his bride. She could ask, but that would mean speaking to him...and truth be told, she'd rather have a conversation with the devil. Her new husband may be one of the most powerful men in all of England - not to mention the handsomest - but he's also cruel, callous, and has a heart colder than ice.

But it was never meant to be a love match...

Eric married Caroline for one simple reason: he wasn't in love with her. Having seen firsthand how love can bring a man to his knees, he's determined not to make the same mistakes his father did. Which is why he's going to spend just enough time with his new bride to assure himself of an heir before he leaves her and returns to London. At least that was the plan until a winter storm leaves them stranded. Now every time Eric turns around he finds himself stumbling over the wife he never wanted...but is slowly beginning to desire....or was it?

As cold winds howl outside the manor, inside of it a duke's heart is finally starting to melt as he finds himself falling for the one woman he was never supposed to love...but can she love him in return?

Contains mature themes.

What does it take to melt a cold heart, a young woman who is hoping to find love and happiness in her marriage. A great story and a beautiful period romance

Fantastic

This is a sweet story but the narrator overacts, over inflects and and over exaggerates every occurrence trying to increase drama of a story that is sweet, not dramatic. Terribly annoying I could only listen at speed because I like the author. I was relieved when it was done. Such a shame.

Sweet story - obnoxious narration

This story was really well established and written for the most part. It actually felt so much longer than 2 and something hours it was, up until the resolve of the romance. It blew past faster than you can say Yule log 🪵 and also came right out of the left field. That was a bit of a pity considering how well written the story was in all. It could have needed another 30 minutes and maybe some more actual romance development between the main characters. Maybe some more pining and actual talking to each other to fall in love with each other through?
Anywho.. the narration was good all though it got a bit breathy and almost over dramatic from time to time. Also I believe the narrators dialect came in and out a bit. Don’t mind a dialect at all as long as it’s consistent. 😉 Not a bad narration though, felt that it for the most part fit really nicely and her male voice impersonation was really good I thought.

A really sweet little story

Very strange pronunciation of several words that was very irritating at times along with strange breathy sentences out of context

Average but descent tale

If you’ve a couple of spare hours and don’t mind a bit of cheesy romance, then give it a listen. Toe curdling stuff with a predictable ending however.

Mills and Boon!
