Over 1 million Discworld audiobooks sold – discover the extraordinary universe of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld like never before.

'A lie can run round the world before the truth has got its boots on'

William de Worde is the accidental editor of the Discworld's first newspaper.

Now he must cope with the traditional perils of a journalist's life - people who want him dead, a recovering vampire with a suicidal fascination for flash photography, some more people who want him dead in a different way and, worst of all, the man who keeps begging him to publish pictures of his humorously shaped potatoes.

William just wants to get at THE TRUTH. Unfortunately, everyone else wants to get at William. And it's only the third edition...

The Discworld novels can be read in any order but The Truth is a standalone novel.

Eleştirmen yorumları

The 25th Discworld novel
'Other writers are mining the rich seam of comic fantasy that Pratchett first unearthed, but what keeps Pratchett on top is - quite literally - the way he tells them.'
'One of the funniest English authors alive'

The book is as brilliant as ever; possibly more so.
Matthew Baynton's narration is outstanding. His Otto Van Chriek is a work of comedic genius.

As good as you'd expect

This is one of the best performances in this new set of Terry Pratchett audio books, and one of Sir Terry’s most solid texts - the combination is wonderful. Matthew Baynton has a marvellous range and creates not just voices but unique characters right the way through for virtually every part from main to extra. Sometimes it’s hard to believe it’s the same person narrating the different voices they’re so individual. I particularly enjoyed Mr Tulip, Vimes, Lord de Worde and Gaspode (I may not have the spelling right as I haven’t physically read this book for many years), while the central interaction between William and Sacharissa is a delight. Peter Serafinowicz as Death is also great in cameo - he and Mr Tulip have a lovely scene at the end.

Journalism was obviously a world Sir Terry knew and he takes no prisoners in this satirical ripping yarn about news, newspapers, consumers and writers, based in Ankh-Morpork. One of the things I enjoy about the text is that it remains so relevant. How refreshing it is to be able to laugh at our terribly serious ‘post truth’ era and realise that actually the whole debate about truth and alternative realities has been going on for eons and will doubtless still be going on eons hence.

Absolutely fabulous

The narration is brilliant, such an array of different voices and a wonderful thought on how children don't need to be what their parents want to turn them into.

It would be nice if the truth really did start kicking.

One of the Finest

I have to say this is one of the best performances of the new recordings. My compliments to the cast and crew

Currently working my way through the unabridged TP novels. This was a wonderfully written and narrated version of story that made me realise all over again how much he is missed …
Onto the next one …
