'I'm a huge Highsmith fan. If there's one book I wish I'd written, it's The Talented Mr Ripley' SARAH WATERS

ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL CRIME NOVELS EVER WRITTEN

Tom Ripley travels to Italy with a commission to coax a prodigal young American back to his wealthy father. But Ripley finds himself very fond of Dickie Greenleaf. He wants to be like him - exactly like him. Suave, agreeable and utterly amoral, Ripley will stop at nothing to accomplish his goal.

The Talented Mr. Ripley serves as an unforgettable introduction to this smooth confident man, whose talent for murder and self-invention is chronicled in four subsequent Ripley novels.

"Precisely plotted, stylishly written, and kept alert by an icy wit. Streets ahead of the conventional thriller: a cool little classic of its kind." (Evening Standard)

A large chunk of Chapter 17 is omitted from the recording. The excluded paragraphs contain details crucial to a full understanding of what follows, such as the call Tom receives from Van Houston at the Inghilterra Hotel and, most importantly, Tom’s reading the newspaper report about the discovery of the boat in San Remo.

Great book, superbly written.the story is thought provoking, and at times emotionally confusing ! I was still trying to predict the ending right up to the last sentence… this is one I will definitely read again. Brilliant!

Kept me guessing all the way through

This is a brief, salient, straight to the point review. I merely wish to say that this listen proves the assumption that the book is always better than the movie. Read the book, watch the movie. You judge.

Didn't know much about this series before I started this book and glad that I didn't. Each scene is believably woven into the next so that the endings all fit together perfectly. Looking forward to Ripley's continued story. By the way, didn't really like any of the characters, including Ripley, but couldn't stop listening anyway.

Ripley's anxiety makes every scene a page-turner
