I grabbed the physical copy and was thrilled to find a little fanart tucked into the inner cover. I love visualizing characters as I read, so this was a nice touch. Plus, the book hits on some of my favorite tropes like forced proximity and the brother’s-teammate dynamic—those forbidden romance vibes really drew me in.
Right from the start, I appreciated the depth of the characters. The story explores complex themes like people-pleasing, living with chronic illness, and challenging family relationships, which made the characters feel real and grounded, not just part of a standard romance plot. That extra layer made the beginning especially compelling.
As the story progressed, though, it started feeling a bit more like a soap opera—almost like a Mexican telenovela! It wasn’t necessarily a bad thing; it added drama and unpredictability, even if it veered a little from the depth I enjoyed in the beginning. Still, I couldn't put it down and even got the audiobook to switch things up since it’s a true duet narration. The dual format made it easy to jump between formats and kept me fully immersed.
Overall, The Striker is a fun read with memorable characters and some heart-pounding moments. Though it may not be my all-time favorite by Ana Huang, it’s still a solid addition to the genre, especially for sports romance fans. Ana brings something fresh to the world of football romance, and I look forward to seeing what she writes next!

Holy Moly Shane East is h0t as Asher Donovan!!!
Asher is c0cky and reckless, the GOAT of football/soccer. Scarlett is humble, witty and funny, a prima ballerina whose wings got clipped way too soon. Their meet is the ultimate hat3-cute and I was all there for it!! Despite all that is said about Asher is very supportive and caring which give him perfect swoon book boyfriend qualities :) :)
Stella Hunter voices Scarlett and I would normally love her performance but I wasn’t so keen on the British accent. She was still great but the accent would come and go every now then, distracting me a little from the story.
