Action thriller by the classic adventure writer set in New Zealand.

Fifty-four people died in the avalanche that ripped apart a small New Zealand mining town. But the enquiry which follows unleashes more destructive power than the snowfall. As the survivors tell their stories, they reveal a community so divided that all warnings of danger went unheeded. At the centre of the storm is Ian Ballard, whose life depends upon being able to clear his name…

Eleştirmen yorumları

'As long as meticulous craftsmanship and honest entertainment are valued, and as long as action, authenticity, and expertise still make up the strong framework of the good adventure/thriller, Desmond Bagley's books will surely be read.' REGINALD HILL, Twentieth Century Crime and Mystery Writers

'Bagley is a master storyteller.' DAILY MIRROR

'Mr Bagley has no equal at this sort of thing.' SUNDAY MIRROR

‘Tense, heroic, chastening… a thumping good story.’ SUNDAY EXPRESS

This is the first Desmond Bagley book I've come across, and I'll certainly read/ listen to more. I enjoyed the way the story unfolded and found the narrator perfect for the book.

Good, well paced plot

Typical Bagley, original, well researched, educational- an all round great story.
The only thing I don’t like is the length, I wish his books were longer!

Great story and well read.

'Small-town-narrow-mindset-vs-expert-who-tries-to-avert-disaster' tale. But it's elevated from the formulaic by inter-weaving the post-disaster inquiry with flashbacks to the events as they played out. Some nice dilemmas, unlikely heroes and even quite a bit of fascinating stuff about snow {it's amazingly complex stuff!) keep the interest to the end.

Nice idea
