“This has to be illegal. They can't do this, can they?”

When her school announces its plan for year-round instruction, 15-year-old Francesca’s dream of summer art camp seems lost. The only way Francesca can stop the Board of Education from going ahead with its plan is a long shot: she must win the Snow Games, a capture-the-flag, multi-round battle for teens. Created by billionaire Tyler Young, the game is the greatest snowball fight ever — with snow castle fortresses, snowball machine guns, thrilling chases down the slopes, and a few surprises. The prize? Tyler’s generous support for the winning team’s school, which the Board of Ed. would gladly accept in place of year-round school. But no team has ever won.

Facing these steep odds, Francesca assembles her squad: her crush (the athlete god), her rival (the mysterious new girl), her best friend, and her annoying little brother. As the tournament unfolds, each of them will experience crushing developments that test their resilience. And they’ll learn that, for one of them, the stakes of the battle are far greater than simply missing out on summer fun.

Balancing entertaining action with heartfelt storylines, The Snow Games explores how we can best respond when disasters big and small befall us. And with lean prose that focuses on character actions and dialogue, the story plays in your mind like a fast-paced movie.

Overall good story not just for teens but the whole family. The moral lessons abound for adults and young adults alike that were not pushy and well placed. Well developed characters that my teen and I were eager to hear their story. And the voice actor was just perfect! I will look for more books from this author.

The Snow Games by Darren Greninger was such an addictive listen. From the start I was pulled in by how intense and fast-paced the storyline moves. It really gave off a cinematic feel. The tale follows a young girl named Francesca who dreams of summer art camp but when the Board of Education announces plans for year-round schooling, she faced with a threat. The only way Francesca can save her summer is banding together a team to participate in a series of icy games and winning! Furthermore showcasing themes such as teamwork, pressure under competition, and thinking strategically. The narrator Terran Rae Smith did a delightful job reading this aloud giving us the emotions through her voice as well as adding depth to each character! It felt really exciting and I binged the listen in a day. I think this could be a listen for any age group or together as a family. I’d definitely recommend this author and story!

A perfect book to read to the kids or have them read alone. The book starts off getting right into it. While I wasn’t a big fan of the narrator to begin with, my opinion changed by the end of the story. The narrator does a good job giving each character personality and emotion. The diversity of the characters gives everyone someone to relate to in the story. Overall a good read and lesson/moral. A feel good novel.

Action packed
