Penguin presents the audiobook edition of The Smoke Thieves by Sally Green, read by Charlie Anson, Pippa Bennett-Warner, Yasmin Paige, Daniel Weyman and Asa Butterfield.

A princess, a traitor, a soldier, a hunter and a thief. Five teenagers with the fate of the world in their hands. Five nations destined for conflict.

In Brigant, Princess Catherine prepares for a political marriage arranged by her brutal and ambitious father, while her true love, Ambrose, faces the executioner's block. In Calidor, downtrodden servant March seeks revenge on the prince who betrayed his people. In Pitoria, feckless Edyon steals cheap baubles for cheaper thrills as he drifts from town to town. And in the barren northern territories, thirteen-year-old Tash is running for her life as she plays bait for the gruff demon hunter Gravell.

As alliances shift and shatter, and old certainties are overturned, our five heroes find their past lives transformed and their futures inextricably linked by the unpredictable tides of magic and war. Who will rise and who will fall? And who will claim the ultimate prize?

Loved this book. I was looking forward to it as I've been a fan of the author for a couple of years after discovering the half bad series. It was even better than I'd hoped and I can't wait for the next book.

Fantastic book with great narrators.

Good narration - but the story went a bit off in places and was a bit boring and long winded. Not much action. However overall a pleasant enough listen to kill time.

Good narration - story line interesting

I listened to this as an audiobook after several false-starts with the book itself (which I got in a subscription box). The audiobook is amazing, the narrators did an excellent job and really brought the characters to life with their performances. I feel that this is a book that's meant to be heard rather than read.

This is a brilliant story once you get into it. Yes, it starts slow, and stays slow for a while, but once it picks up the pace is incredible.

But oh man I'm in love with Catherine! I can't wait for the next book to see what happens to her, although I suspect I'll go for the audiobook again.

Power, war, adventure, magic, loyalty.

It took me months to finish #TheSmokeThieves by @Sa11eGreen but now I have. At first it was a bit hard to read as the chapters were always about a different character but now I love this book. I feel for the characters. I feel their pain, happiness and love. Waiting for book 2 ❤

Rollercoaster of feelings.

So good! I cannot wait for the sequel. Usually I don’t like multiple POV stories - but with this book it worked so well. Edyon is my fav ♥️

Brilliant start to a series
