Sainte Nore does not want to be a farmer. He does not want to be a trader or a store owner. He wants to be a Blade of the Night. He wants to fight the ravenous beasts they call Malignin; to defend Crearia from them.

That’s why, when he turns seventeen, he does just that. Recently single, he leaves his family and everything he knows behind to go through Training to become a Blade. Sainte is determined to do what it takes to graduate, no matter who or what tries to get in his way.

But when Training is almost over, he is given a unique assignment.

One that changes everything.

I have previously read this prequel novella and thoroughly enjoyed it. My original review for that is below. The narration enhances the experience. The narrator has a great voice, distinctive and gravelly, perfect for this kind of dark fantasy. I am very much looking forward to listening to the others!

This is a perfect intro to the trilogy, compact, well written and engaging. I enjoyed this almost more than the main books, this and the first part of the first book in the trilogy being the strongest parts of all the books in my view. That is not to say the others aren't worth reading, as they certainly are! I will definitely be reading more by this author.

Cracking prequel.
