For vibrant, lovely Jean Suttman, the fellowship to study in Rome was the culmination of her dreams, until she undertook an innocent expedition to the ancient Temple of Mithra. From the moment she stepped into the pagan darkness and discovered the corpse of Albert, one of her fellow students, she was afraid.

Not even the comforting presence of the perceptive and practical Jacqueline Kirby could erase the fear that was nourished by one small accident after another, “accidents” that came dreadfully close to killing her. Someone was stalking Jean, someone ruthless and determined. Before long she could see no chance of rescue from the ever-present terror, no hope of escape, nothing but death.

Whether it was the not very good narrator or the lack of wit in the writing, this was not up to the standard of the Peabody books.

Disappointing

I think it’s set in the 60’s I think you have to have a bit of a Library/academic background to fully appreciate it and it really had no satisfactory conclusion . However it was a very gentle listen and made me think of glamorous film sets - a bit daytime television for the ears.

La Dolce Vita!!

Cxggujn bjjjjb as boring as the story that I have just listened to. Not to be recommended

Quite boring. Managed to get to the end but still continued being boring. Too much information about archeological catacombs etc

My apologies this story could be good I think but it’s intolerable just because the narration says Jacqueline every 3 minutes but pronounced as ‘jac-qwe-lin’ and the ‘qwe’ part grates time after time after time - I cannot bear it any longer.

Another narrator needed

The narrator kills this story dead. She can't say the main character's name properly Jackweline - ugh!

So boring and narrator dreadful
