Christmas comes early to Crofter's Green—but so does murder.

When a charming American actor arrives to direct a Christmas production of A Christmas Carol for evacuee children at a grand country manor, it seems like the perfect holiday treat. But on the very day Pearl Harbor is attacked, the actor is found murdered—and he's been carrying mysterious coded messages that suggest this "Christmas spirit" hides something far more dangerous.

As snow blankets the English countryside and Christmas approaches, the Sleuths must unravel a web of theatrical deception, wartime espionage, and long-buried secrets. With a houseful of vulnerable children and a killer still at large, can they solve the mystery before the final curtain falls?

Packed with holiday atmosphere, wartime intrigue, and all the cozy charm you love about Crofter's Green, The Scrooge Conspiracy delivers the perfect blend of Christmas magic and mystery mayhem.

Another great story from the homegrown sleuths! I do find the narration to be a bit depressing in all the books. but other than that I really love these wartime stories!

Great!

I have enjoyed this series. The Christmas Storyline was unique and the writers continued to develop the characters and their relationships. Hopefully there will be more!

Enjoyable Listen

Despite the fact this series is written by American Authors and is free on Audible for members, I have enjoyed it.
The characters may be broadly painted English wartime stereotypes but I have really liked them. In all honesty this falls into the not too challenging cosy crime genre and it definitely does that. Don’t expect any great insights or gritty crime drama but for light feel good stories with reasonably intriguing crime/thriller elements it’s good and after all it’s free

Overall I have enjoyed the series so far but found it harder to concentrate through this one. You have to accept the implausibility and, yes there are lots of anomalies as mentioned in other reviews which are irksome but the most annoying thing is the repeated use of the word "tighten" eg jaw tightened, stomach tightened, face tightened, eyes tightened. I lost count after 15 examples. And then we have the feelings of ice in the stomach, cold knots in her ribcage etc. Occasionally fine but every few minutes? The characters must be exhausted!

Too convoluted at times

I've loved this series. The characters weave at a good pace around the plot. They are all unique, strong minded. some great twists and turns.
