I loved it. An interesting setting and story telling which I knew little about. Atmospheric writing and well drawn characters with some suspense and a challenging take on justice and duty. I’ve not read any by this author before but wouldn’t hesitate to read more. Great narration too, just a slight niggle at one character’s imitation of another’s voice which felt derogatory but it was a minor incident in an otherwise immaculate performance.

The lives of three women, Kate, Ellen and Martha, beautifully twinned together against the back drop of the Yukon gold rush. Beth Lewis’s writing grips you by the throat and carries you along as they three of them try to find not only who killed Kate’s sister Molly but their own place and freedom.
The historical detail brings it all vividly to life, I could smell the mud, taste the smoke, and her characters main and secondary, shine with a bright fierce light. Thank you for writing this - it’s is superb.
