Rejoin fantasy’s most deadly and dysfunctional mercenaries in the sequel to debut sensation THE BLACK HAWKS.

Bound by oath and honour, Vedren Chel found himself drawn to the heart of a deadly rebellion. With him stood the mercenaries of the Black Hawk Company, who were only ever in it for the money.

But the uprising failed. Now, Chel and the sell-sword Rennic languish in prison, watching as their comrades are taken one by one for execution.

A daring escape will set them free, but with the combined forces of vengeful church and voracious crown arrayed against them, Chel and the Black Hawks must embark on a desperate search for new allies.

Journeying from frozen wastes to towering cities, from drug-riddled fleapits to opulent palaces, THE RIGHTEOUS is the thrilling and riotous second adventure from one of fantasy’s most exciting new voices.

‘Immensely entertaining’

PRAISE FOR THE BLACK HAWKS:

‘Reminds me of Abercrombie’s THE BLADE ITSELF’
Nicholas Eames, author of KINGS OF THE WYLD

‘Refreshing and entertaining, like a cross between Nicholas Eames and Joe Abercrombie; THE BLACK HAWKS is simply a joy to read’
Peter McLean, author of PRIEST OF BONES

‘Wragg captures the classic fantasy spirit of adventure and exploration, wraps it with stabbed backs and cannibals and gifts it to you on a bed of action’
Ed McDonald, author of BLACKWING

‘Everyone loves a good mercenary tale, but THE BLACK HAWKS offers more besides: a protagonist who's refreshingly rubbish at fighting, a supporting cast who'd be fascinating if they were just standing around in a supermarket, and an author who knows when to dodge cliches, and when to jump in and splash like a kid in a puddle’
Nate Crowley, author of 100 BEST VIDEO GAMES (THAT NEVER EXISTED)

‘Check out THE BLACK HAWKS – it’s full of fun characters, mercenary antics, twists, turns, and contains my favourite fantasy lemon’
Peter Newman, Gemmell Award-winning author of THE VAGRANT and THE DEATHLESS

‘A remarkably assured debut…I can’t wait to see what happens next’
Anna Stephens, author of GODBLIND

Good stuff I like the introduction of industry the humour right up there with one finger! Not as hero-less, or cynical as crombe , I don’t want to say a bit more PG as the language and interaction between characters is far from but wragg gives hope to the reader

Anyway good stuff keep them coming

Good grownup stuff

The story continues at great pace. It's a long book but you don't notice as there's always something happening. The characters are so well written, Lemon is my favourite and I loved the banter between her and Foss but also with their new companion, Kosh.

The plot took an unexpected turn at the end, what an ending. I'm going to have to sit in a dark room for a while to get my nerves back in order. David Wragg, please please write another in the series! In the meantime I will have to reread both books as I'm not ready to say goodbye to the Black Hawk company just yet.

Colin Mace did an excellent job with all the accents, he definitely got better as the book progressed.

Fantastic plot, energetic pace, great characters

To me it seems that this was a trilogy cut short to a duology, for whatever reason. Some plots are open and never get resolved or do so in a rushed manner. Very Disappointing

Feels Incomplete

Loved it! Exciting and an emotional roller coast with some light relief. Can't remember enough.

A great read!

I'll keep this short and simple, this book was everything I wanted and more from a sequel to the stellar 'The Black Hawks'. Great story, great characters and a good conclusion to the duology.

Colin Mace yet again exceeds all expectations with his outstanding narration, giving life and personality to each character with an impressive range of accents and tones, cementing him as one of the best audiobook narrators I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.

An incredible continuation
