DON'T FEAR THE REAPER. JOIN HIM.

From a thrilling new debut voice comes a dark and gripping urban fantasy, set in the heart of a hidden world beneath the streets of London - Perfect for fans of Legendborn and Ben Aaronovitch.

Amy is an empath, able to sense the auras of the supernatural creatures that stalk London at night. But sorely lacking in knowledge, she spends night after night searching for answers.

Gerald is a Reaper - a weapon for hire - on the verge of his Awakening. Of coming into his power and becoming the man his family need him to be. The man they demand he be.

When Amy stumbles onto Gerald one night, she notices his strange aura, unlike anything she has seen before. And so, against her better judgement she helps him. In thanks he makes her an offer she can't refuse: become his partner and he will introduce her to a world she has only ever felt the shallow surface of: the underworld.

And their first mission together: find a girl who vanished into thin air.

An exciting new voice in the genre . . . I loved the unique take on the lore of the Grim Reaper
Dark, moody - and tremendous fun. The Reaper digs a whole new layer into the London you know, spinning myth and legend into living, breathing intrigue.
Darkly thrilling, bitingly funny, and intriguing from the first sentence, Brown's vision of supernatural London grabs you by the throat from page one, and doesn't let go. I devoured it. Urban fantasy fans, watch out, there's a new star on the scene...
THE REAPER is a truly amazing first book. The worldbuilding is amazing, the story is compelling, and I enjoyed Jackson P. Brown's debut book thoroughly. Can't wait till another installment.
Vividly evoked . . . Gerald and Amy are interestingly complex characters, and with the slow growth of their tentative relationship this is an engaging and promising debut

really liked the storyline, characters and the undercurrent of social relevance and othering. I thought the empath and the reaper was a nice play on partners fighting crime and I finished the book wanting to read more. it's a written for a young adults reading audience I think but I didn't mind and it didn't detract from my enjoyment. would recommend.

really enjoyable twist on a otherworld series

What a jewel of a story and performance. everything about this story appeals to me. I love science fiction and fantasy full stop but this in particular because she is of African Jamaican heritage and it truly is fantastic to recognise aspects of yourself in not just one character but many.

I await the next installment with baited breath.

An absolute jewel

I finished the book still interested in this world and the possibilities for the characters. A view in to a hidden London filled with people of a magical persuasion. What happens when all of it is revealed and you see more than you probably wanted? I look forward to a sequel.

Interesting take on the magical underworld

Great storytelling, engaging characters and refreshingly packed full with cultural references from the Black British Caribbean experience. Top notch narration was the icing on the cake. Looking forward to seeing how the series develops!

Absolutely loved this book. The characters are really distinct and interesting and I can’t wait to find out what happens next… the only teeny thing is the voiceover edit missed a couple of stumbles and starting over but the story is so worth a listen (or read)!

What a fantastic (grim) tale!
