A Cabinet minister found dead. A locked room. No weapon in sight.

When the body of Sir James Thresher is discovered inside his study, every door bolted from the inside, suspicion falls on everyone—and no one. Chief Inspector Gethryn, cool-headed and relentless, must untangle a web of lies, secrets, and old grudges before the killer strikes again.

Philip MacDonald’s The Rasp is a razor-sharp classic of the Golden Age of detective fiction, blending country-house intrigue with modern precision and a twist that keeps listeners guessing until the very end.

Really nice old-school crime story. The writing is witty (in a 1920s sort of way) and the narrator really brought Anthony's wry wit to life. Think I might be going down a crime rabbit hole.

Great comfort listen

Really enjoyed this. An interesting mystery with as many twists and turns as you'd expect. It holds up well today despite being over a 100 years old!

It doesn't do anything you won't have seen before, but as a cosy fireplace crime caper filled with witty one liners and femme fatales, you can't go wrong.

A real classic
