Özet

A perilous mission. An unforgivable betrayal. A secret lost in time…

1584: Elizabeth I rules England. But a dangerous plot is brewing in court, and Mary Queen of Scots will stop at nothing to take her cousin’s throne.

There’s only one thing standing in her way: Tom, the queen’s trusted apothecary, who makes the perfect silent spy…

2021: Travelling the globe in her campervan, Mathilde has never belonged anywhere. So when she receives news of an inheritance, she is shocked to discover she has a family in England.

Just like Mathilde, the medieval hall she inherits conceals secrets, and she quickly makes a haunting discovery. Can she unravel the truth about what happened there all those years ago? And will she finally find a place to call home?

Enchanting and gripping, The Queen’s Spy effortlessly merges past with present in an unforgettable tale of love, courage and betrayal – perfect for fans of Lucinda Riley and Kathryn Hughes.

The story is quite interesting switching between centuries and characters. What lets it down is the narration, specifically that of Tom. It feels like this has not been edited very well as the male voice is hard to follow, sentences faulted, the tone and lilt of the voice are often in the wrong place as if they have turned the page and not connected the story together. Shame as it rather spoils the story. Great French ascent for Mathilde.

It’s ok…

The female performer was a little 'wooden ' at times.
I liked the way the story built up as it went on. The use of real historical characters was interesting.

The juxtaposition of the two storylines were well written.

Another enthralling book that links the tales together. You get lost in the history as though there yourself. Such a brilliant author, I thoroughly enjoy listening to her stories

Just brilliant

Gripping from the get go. An excellent tale traversing modern day and Elizabethan court.

A beautiful book

Wasn’t gripping. Swapping backwards and forwards in time didn’t work like some similar types of book

Nothing really
