Childhood sweethearts William and Mary have been married for sixty years. William is a celebrated surgeon, Mary a devoted wife. Both have a strong sense of right and wrong.

This is what their son, Joe O'Loughlin, has always believed. But when Joe is summoned to the hospital with news that his father has been brutally attacked, his world is turned upside down. Who is the strange woman crying at William's bedside, covered in his blood - a friend, a mistress, a fantasist or a killer?

Against the advice of the police, Joe launches his own investigation. As he learns more, he discovers sides to his father he never knew - and is forcibly reminded that the truth comes at a price.

A mesmerising psychological thriller from one of the greatest crime writers of today, Michael Robotham, the internationally bestselling author of THE SECRETS SHE KEEPS.

A past master at misdirection . . . he demonstrates the full range of his skills here
'As always, even Robotham's most extraordinary stories have their basis in the kinds of things people really do. . . At its heart, The Other Wife is all about what it means to be a father. It's also a book about coming to terms with the past in ways that allow us to move on'
Robotham is one of the finest crime novelists on the planet. Whether writing standalone novels or novels centered on his recurring character, clinical psychologist Joe O'Loughlin, Robotham grips the reader from the first page to the last

Fab book with great narration. I love this series and think Michael Robotham is a hugely talented author. I listened to it in one sitting and couldn’t put it down. I do wish I have read these in order however. Sean Barrett is a perfect narrator. A great listen and recommended.

These O'Loughlin books can be harrowing and previous entries had me listening through my fingers while the skill of Robotham as a writer kept me going. This one is lighter than some of the others and does not suffer from it. THe plot is "out there" and initially seems to forget some events from earlier books, but stick with it - all is explained.

The exploration of motives, human frailty and strength, response and reaction to changing perspectives, and all encompassing compassion for even the monsters, makes these books shine in the genre. Please keep writing them Michael Robotham. Sean Barrett, keep reading them, your characterisation of Ruiz is one of my favourite things in all of Audible.

Got to love Ruiz speaking truth to Joe!

I was devastated to think that this wonderful series may have finished. I wonder, now, if this is the last. As usual
Sean Barrett was marvellous even though the tone is somewhat morose and quite depressing (deliberately). The story was a little stretched and I think his poor children must have had enough by now. However, I enjoyed it.

At last - another Joe and Ruiz book
