In this tense thriller from the winner of the Bloody Scotland Debut Prize, PI Callie Munro is hunting a serial killer on the streets of Edinburgh. But he’s already found her…

As private investigators go, Callie Munro is tougher than most. She’s had to be. Abandoned as a baby and raised by a succession of strangers, she knows a thing or two about surviving…

…but she never expected to find herself hunting a serial killer.

After uncovering a string of missing women—women no one seems to care about—Callie refuses to look away. With police ignoring the evidence, her only ally is an organised crime boss with his own agenda.

The deeper Callie digs, the more dangerous the hunt becomes. Every clue exposes another lie. Every step brings the killer closer.

She’s fighting for the forgotten. But if she’s not careful, she’ll be next.

Fast-paced and gripping, this first book in Tariq Ashkanani’s thrilling new series is perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, Val McDermid and Robert Galbraith.

Eleştirmen yorumları

‘Ashkanani avoids cliché at every turn, opening the novel with a brief, stirring chapter that gives voice to each of the killer’s victims…Meanwhile, his brisk, present-tense prose lends the action a ruthless air of inevitability. The result is an exemplary tartan noir that will leave readers eager for the sequel.’—Publishers Weekly (starred review)

Really exciting and fast paced story that had me gripped from the start. Love the characters of Callie and Mac and the setting in Edinburgh. Really hope that this is the start of a long series.

Absolutely brilliantly

This is the first in what I hope will be a new series. It is a fast paced crime thriller set in Edinburgh, though I didn't feel much of a sense of place. However it is nice to have a private investigator as the protagonist and I found Callie Munro to be very likeable, though she needs to calm down a bit and not rush into dangerous situations! The chapters are short making me want to listen to just one more, and there is plenty of action.

Interesting first book in a series

The combination of excellent tight prose from the author, the excellent twists, and the delicious Edinburgh accent of the talented narrator is just ... chef's kiss. Highly recommended!

I have found my new OG thriller author!
