In this Poe-like tale, set in "an old gray house", a man exacts a bizarre revenge on his unfaithful wife and her lover. This chilling story is one of Balzac's most popular.©1979 Jimcin Recordings (P)1979 Jimcin Recordings Classics Kısa Öykü

Eleştirmen yorumları

"Walter Zimmerman excellently narrates two mysteries of Balzac that will please contemporary listeners. It's as if Balzac shares a secret when, in ["The Mysterious Mansion"], the reader's soft voice reveals the grim ending of the love affair of a Spanish nobleman." ( Booklist)

'La Grande Bretèche', also known as 'The Mysterious Mansion', is number sixteen in Honoré de Balzac's La Comédie Humaine. And only the third one I've read out of the lot. And it didn't disappoint! What a story! Being so short it's hard to say what it's about without giving something crucial away so all I'll say is that it's a bit of a chilling tale with some moderate suspense.

Great Gothic Horror

This is an appalling dreadful reading of a very good piece of literature. The narrator completely destroys any and all value of Balzacs story.
