Five grand for a couple of hours work? It seems easy money, but the deal ex-mercenary Max Iversson is chasing has gone disastrously wrong. Two of his friends are dead. And now he wants to find out who's behind their killings. Detective Sergeant John Gallan is also looking for answers. He's investigating the fatal poisoning of a nightclub doorman. But leads are scarce and, when they do appear, so do bodies. What neither man knows is that they are heading towards a devastating confrontation that will see one of them staring down the wrong end of a gun.

The storyline was great! However....

The narrator wasn't great but I perseverd, it took me longer than usual to finish this one because the narrators voice was a bit monotonous.

Also I thought there were more than needed with the sex scenes. I mean I don't mind 1/2 pationate moments but this was a bit much for me.

Sorry Simon Kernick, I'm not sure your books are for me.

Not the top of my list...

...dragged in the middle and lost its way dreadfully only to happily find light at the end of the tunnel, eventually. Overall happy I bought it and persevered...

Like the writing, the narrator and the characters are intriguing. This book is not for the faint hearted.

What I call an easy listen, I did this book in three days. Decent story line but I can’t say I was gripped. The narrator was very good.
