The narrator’s voice and characters are so distracting and cringy. It set raw fits from the writing. I’m half way through and will persevere as I usually love the author.

Irritating narrator

I like books by Jane Casey. But this particular book was very difficult to listen because of disgusting narration. The voice of the actress fluctuated between little girlie artificial voice to a shrill like chain saw loud unbearable voice of all others.
Why on Earth the narrator does not understand that her voice should be pleasant and moderated not like a squealing from a butcher shop?

Like so many mention, the narrator was absolutely dreadful at doing any other character’s voices other than her own - and even that was tough to listen to. The story was good enough but I really think this book should be re-recorded with a different narrator to give the story the credit it’s due.

I completed this out of loyalty to the author despite the awful narrator 😣

narrative spoilt it for me. Too many irritable voices, also same voices for different characters. won't listen to this narrator again.

I usually enjoy this author, unfortunately this was impacted by the reading. Every character was made to sound high pitched and a bit slow, which I found irritating.
