Spilled secrets, a dead spy, and a missing spymaster. When your enemies take bold action, there's no room for hesitation.

London, 1922—Theodora Laurent, femme fatale and undercover spy, has spent several months training Lord Rex to be her new partner. It's time for him to undertake his first assignment—finding out who passed along false intelligence to the Cabinet.

Despite Theodora's training, the only thing Lord Rex knows for sure is his spying skills fall far short of hers. However, when London's spymaster himself requests your help, you can't just turn him down.

As a peer of the realm, Lord Rex is the perfect person to take on the search for the loose-lipped politician. Maneuvering amongst the elite in the halls of Parliament is well within his wheelhouse, promising to be low risk and high reward, especially with Theodora at his side.

Or so they think…

When London's #2 spy ends up dead, their simple assignment turns into a full-fledged murder investigation with England's leading politicians among the suspects.

Just when they think the situation can't get any worse, someone kidnaps the spymaster.

Can Theodora and Rex uncover the treacherous villain behind the murder and kidnapping before they lose their lives?

I loved the reader and the characters in this story. I can’t wait for the next instalment.

Super story

I listen to a great many historical murder mystery books to relax, as my 'day job' is quite demanding, so over the years, I've been getting through two or three audiobooks a month, as I find them helpful for switching off, stopping rumination when busy with household tasks and just relaxing. I'm running out of cosy murder mysteries and it has been great to find these. The relationships between the characters build so to bring some depth to the story line. I personally enjoy the humour and relational warmth that some murder mystery writers weave into their story lines, as much as the mystery to be solved. And Lynn Morrisson has done a good job of this. I am also enjoying Pearl Hewitt's narration. Having listened to to the first two books, I'm looking forward to the rest. Any one who has enjoyed Helena Dixon's books, or Dianne Freeman, or Rhys Bowen, would enjoy this series.

Well crafted mystery & attention to relationships

At last a society murder mystery duo that seem real. After Carola Dunn retired I couldn’t find anyone I like as much as Daisy Dalrymple and Dora fits the bill.
