A classic English murder mystery story, set in the legal center of London, draws the reluctant attention of a journalist as he makes his way home after a long night on the job. But his newshound instincts kick in. Who is the elderly man? What was he doing at the law chambers in the middle of the night? Why had someone seen fit to strike him on the back of the head? As this convoluted tale weaves its way from London to Cornwall to Yorkshire and back to London, it will keep you guessing until the end.

A terrible narration and sounds as though it is underwater, unable to listen to it.

The story was completely ruined by terrible narration. The reader was dull & lifeless, making frequent mistakes of emphasis. The recording was technically poor & sounded like the microphone was the other side of the room

Bad recording of a bad reader

Over the years I have bought hundreds of audio books, and one undoubtedly has the very worse narration.
Lynne Thompson has little inflection and no real attempt at characterisation. The only good thing that I can say is that on a sleepless night it would be a good one to ask Alexa to play.
This is a sad disappointment as a like the J S Fletcher books.
I would not recommend this audio book, the reading makes it very difficult to keep listening.

What a dreadful reading
