FROM THE BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF SNOW

'Banville is one of my favourite writers alive.' REBECCA F. KUANG
'More than a touch of genius.' THE TIMES

William 'Big Bill' Mulholland is head of one of New York's wealthiest dynasties. When Mulholland gets wind of a hostile biography planned, he commissions his journalist son-in-law John Glass to pen the official line. To help with the job, Glass hires a beady-eyed researcher - 'the lemur'.

But the next day, the Lemur is found dead, shot through the eye with a Beretta. What is the secret he knew, had he told anyone else, and why are the police suddenly asking Glass a lot of questions?

Having slogged through a few overly bloated novels recently I was delighted to listen to this beautifully written and tightly plotted murder mystery. It hums along very nicely with a compact and twisty plot that delivers a solid literary punch.

Great Quick Listen

Intriguing plot, bags of atmosphere. One of Banville's books originally published under his Benjamin Black nom de plume but not a Quirke book.

Brilliant narrator.
