DeathWizards have been the scourge of Talohna for over 5,000 years; they are executed at birth or hunted to the death. There are no exceptions.

Pulled by magic and blood sacrifice into a world he can't possibly begin to understand, Kael Symes soon finds himself the focus of a Talohna-wide manhunt.

Desperate and trying to stay ahead of ArchWizard Giddeon Zirakus's execution squad, Kael soon discovers that Talohna's ArchWizard may be the least of his worries. An ancient witch coven is also on the hunt for Kael, and they'll stop at nothing to find their messiah first.

Trapped far below the earth inside the long-lost Dwarven prison of Arkum Zul, Kael has few allies he can trust. After months of torture and suffering, he is quickly running out of time to recover what was stolen from him: The magic of the DeathWizard.

It's his only hope for escape.

Fast, Fun, Gritty and Intriguing! I enjoyed this book very much, lots of strong characters and very interesting plots and sub plots. I anticipate the next installment will be a fantastical, fantasy feast! Simon Vance as always is perfect.

Great New Fantasy Series

For the love of God stop getting every character to say "Fair enough"! Apart from some discrepancies in magic and actions to further the plot (but mostly was quite tight), an enjoyable read and I've started the next one too. Narrator as usual is great, his accent for a certain region isn't quite right but it's still passable and not OTT.

Minor flaws but worth it

Good story but the build up is for another book in the series. the narrator isn't great as he doesn't know how to pause between scenes which make it difficult to follow and part of the book jumps making you miss parts of the story (maybe just my download?). I'd definitely get the next book. just a shame the narrator lets this book down.

Promises a lot

A well written book with excellent narration that is difficult to put down. Highly recommend a listen!
