In a not-so-distant future, MUSE, the all-powerful tech giant, has erased the human music archive. When rebellious musician William Jones uploads the first real song in decades, he is exiled from the internet and branded an enemy of progress.

Years later, MUSE’s mysterious founder launches a global contest to reignite human collaboration. William joins forces with fellow Beatlemaniac Eliza, and together they form a band. But what begins as a competition soon spirals into a high-stakes game that will test their friendship, their courage, and the very soul of art.

The Last Song on Earth is a thrilling story of rebellion, friendship, and the fight to reclaim creativity.

‘A completely original, surprising and thrilling tale, The Last Song on Earth takes today’s world of algorithms and AI and shunts it into a near-future hellscape where real music has been erased and the only songs available are artificially generated. And then combines all that with a will-they-won’t-they love story, a world-wide contest and yes, a proper band! Strong characters, well-drawn environment, impeccable Beatles knowledge and wild jeopardy throughout make this a properly great read. I was gripped from start to finish.’ Miranda Sawyer, The Guardian

As someone who cannot go one day without music, the premise of this story made me want to listen. I thought the story was good but there were many characters. I feel I would have been better reading as opposed to listening. The narrator was ok but I found that some words were pronounced incorrectly and some speech just didn't sound how it should in that context. I'd say that that's more of an editing issue though, not the fault of the narrator who, on the whole, did a good job.

An interesting take on an AI future

‘The Last Song on Earth’ is captivating from the get go. A thought provoking take on the impact of AI on the music industry and the power of real music in this dystopian story. Loved it! Highly recommend.
