This is the story of three women.

The first is brought back from the dead, and follows her saviour to adventure.

The second is seeking the sorcerer who trained her, who has disappeared without a trace.

The third is running from assassins and hiding her own deep secrets.

Three mysterious women, with their own power and stories. A missing sorcerer. A magical fox. A heartbroken fiance, a besotted stable boy, and an Innkeeper dealing with the strangest guests he has ever encountered.

Peter S. Beagle’s The Innkeeper’s Song weaves a tapestry of dazzling prose, where every sentence glimmers with poetic precision. The soft fantasy elements—subtle magic, mythical undertones—blend seamlessly into a cozy, hearth-lit atmosphere, inviting readers to linger in its warm embrace. The multi-character perspectives, each voice distinct yet harmonious, create a rich, kaleidoscopic narrative that feels both intimate and epic. A quietly enchanting tale that lingers like a well-told story by a fireside.

A Heartwarming Homecoming

Having been a fan of The Last Unicorn for years I thought I’d try out Beagle’s other works, since I was impressed by how he told a story. And this did not disappoint in any way. I won’t discuss the plot; that already feels like it gives too much away. I can only urge you to read it/listen to it yourself, make your own deductions and have your own feelings. But for me, this is a masterful fantasy written in such stunning language; it is a book that deserves more attention and more love. For me this is a five star read and I highly recommend it to anyone
