As the temperature drops, the body count rises....

Firefighters race to put out a blaze at a remote farmhouse. They discover two young girls alone in the house. Their mother is gone, and in her place is the dead body of a man, frozen naked in the fetal position. Two chess pieces made of ice have been left on the doorstep.

Then it happens again.

A missing woman. A frozen body. Chess pieces made of ice. Detective Dove Milson and her team are on the case, but time is running out to stop a serial killer. Then ice sculptures are left outside Dove’s front door.

Is this check or checkmate? In this utterly gripping thriller, what’s frozen in the past may destroy the present.

Originally I had read the book but coming in with this book rather than the first one. This time I started off by listening to the first book in the series and then binge listened to the series. It was so much better this way and I got a better grasp of the characters and where they were going. What I am loving about the series, which I don't think I picked up when reading was the sub characters. This one was so moving and really poignant.

A great series

Enjoyed this far more then the Glass daughters. the narrator didn't try any more ridiculous accents and the story was harder to predict.
listening to the snow and ice forecasts during a heatwave was something. But this kept me hanging to the very end

Far less predictable

I was as captivated by this book as I was with the first in the series. I am now onto the third and final book and I am sure I won't be disappointed.

Loved this one too

I enjoyed this second Det. Dove Milson book. It was just as good as the first one. Interesting story idea and some good villains.

Another Good Story

I really enjoyed this. The second Dove Milson book by DE White has a great storyline and characters. Lots of police procedure and imaginative murders. The excellent narrator on this audio book puts the icing on the cake.
