A lass begging to marry him might top the list of "oddest things to happen," but Chief Adam Macquarie is desperate. And no matter how much he hates to do it, he's not above lying to get what he wants. Starting with the fact that he just omitted the truth about the situation back at his home - where there are no women and only a handful of other people. Because he has a secret need for a wife himself, one she won't be too happy about when she finds out.

Lark Montgomerie is thrilled the brawny chief agrees to save her from her drunken father's machinations of wedding her off to the first fool that agrees. He's easy on the eyes and no one can be worse than her current options. Now a new life awaits her, on an exciting Scottish isle no less, and nothing will dampen her spirits. That is, until she arrives in her new homeland and realizes more than a few things are amiss....

Contains mature themes.

I love Heather's books but I think this has become my favourite and was sad when it ended so I'm immediately going off to buy the next, although I'm sad to say there is only one other in the series so far but I'll be eagerly awaiting the next. This has a good story line of which there hasn't been one similar to my knowledge. very enjoyable and of course narration perfect but you wouldn't expect anything less from Timothy.

loved it

This was my first time listening to Tim Cambell and I’m so happy to have found a new favourite narrator. Tim is a marvellous storyteller. The way his deep voice rumbled and changed with each character allowed me to be transported to the time period. I will certainly check out his other books!

The narrator was fantastic!

Very enjoyable. The banter between the brothers is great and something this author hasn't done much of before. The heroine is strong and capable. She's handy with a knife and bakes a mean tart. Tribal rivalries and alliances feature strongly.
Good performance as usual from Tim Campbell.

Fun romantic title

Heather McCollum had done it again. Another successful book. This book had everything I love. Everything from the plot & characters.
Yet again it was brought to life by Timothy Campbell. Nobody else could have done this book justice.
I would definitely recommend it.
