QUEEN OF EGYPT. WARRIOR OF ROME. THE FATE OF AN EMPIRE.

The Roman Republic is crumbling, torn apart by rivalries. Egypt is a wellspring of wealth, but its rulers have squandered their advantage and ended up hopelessly indebted to the protection racket that called itself Rome.

Now a woman, as Pharaoh, has a chance to reclaim what Egypt has lost. And a disgraced Roman commander has his chance to reclaim his sword and wield it to build an empire unlike anything the world had seen.

Their stories collide in a maelstrom of ancient history, high politics and power. This is the story of Cleopatra, the Egyptian queen who confronted and contested the power of Rome. And Antonius, the soldier who might be her salvation or her downfall. Ancient Historical Fiction Ortadoğu Kraliyet Firavun Afrika Roma

Prof Roberts has brought the historic characters and the world they lived in to life in this exciting novel.
It is well written and an enjoyable listen if you are interested in the Egyptians, the Romans or just a historic novel fan.
I wouldn’t be put off by the review mentioning too much bad language in the book, unless you are of a particularly sensitive disposition. To me it appeared contextual and appropriate to the characters and story.

A good listen

The story itself was good and appears to be based on historical fact. What spoiled it for me was the pronunciation of certain terms by one of the narrators.

Not a story you normally hear
