Random House presents the audiobook edition of The Fifth Woman by Henning Mankell, read by Sean Barrett.

Four nuns and a fifth woman are killed in a savage night-time attack in Africa. A year later, Inspector Kurt Wallander investigates the disappearance of an elderly birdwatcher and discovers a gruesome and meticulously planned murder - a body impaled in a trap of sharpened bamboo poles. Then, another man is reported missing.

Once again Wallander's life is put on hold as he and his team work tirelessly to find a link between the series of vicious murders.

Winner of the CWA Gold Dagger for Sidetracked.

Inspector Wallander is one of the most wonderful creations in contemporary crime writing (Mark Lawson)
Truly horrifying... The novels become a compulsion - one reads them all
A first-class police procedural
The real test of thrillers of this kind is whether you want to spend more time in the detective's company. I certainly do (Sean French)
Mankell's long, subtle, involving novel could turn you to crime

I love the author, the intricate plots, believable characters that you care about (even the perpetrator!) and the narrator is, as, always superb. We adore Sean!!

Thoroughly rnjoyed this Wallander. Strong story and an excellent perfotmance; lovely cadence, the rhythm of the performance carried the story beautifully.

Another gripping tale and performance

I am a fan of the television adaptations of these books, so wasn’t sure if the books and the narrator would be as good.

Definitely as good, probably better. The longer timeline gives a more nuanced story and better character development than there is time for in a tv serial.

A real positive is the relatively straightforward personality of Wallender, without the irritating quirks TV producers seem to be obsessed with.

Another enjoyable Wallander thriller and very well read, but there is bad audio interference in the first 3 chapters!
