"The Duke at Hazard is my dream historical romance: emotional and intimate, but also full of wit, humor, and a lovable cast of supporting characters. The setting feels so vivid and alive, and every single interaction between the two heroes is pitch perfect. I loved every word of this book' Martha Waters

The Duke of Severn is one of the greatest men in Britain.

He's also short, quiet, and unimpressive. And now he's been robbed, after indulging in one rash night with a strange man who stole the heirloom Severn ring from his finger. The Duke has to get it back, and he can't let anyone know how he lost it. So when his cousin bets that he couldn't survive without his privilege and title, the Duke grasps the opportunity to hunt down his ring-incognito.

Life as an ordinary person is terrifying... until the anonymous Duke meets Daizell Charnage, a disgraced gentleman, and hires him to help. Racing across the country in search of the thief, the Duke and Daizell fall into scrapes, into trouble-and in love.

Daizell has been excluded from polite society, his name tainted by his father's crimes and his own misbehaviour. Now he dares to dream of a life somewhere out of sight with the quiet gentleman who's stolen his heart. He doesn't know that his lover is a hugely rich public figure with half a dozen titles. And when he finds out, it will risk everything they have...

Every installment I read from K J in any of the series simply takes what Charles does best and elevates it again and again! Everything was perfect and I listened to this one in two whirlwind days straight. The shy, sheltered Duke undercover, the dashing yet damaged not-so-rake to help him on his quest, horde thievery, elopement (multiple yes you heard me), lying to the church, the infamous Lady Wintors hell and return of our favourite fortunehunter and his Heart! From the character development, to the plot, to the bloody humour I love so much from Charles, to the absolutely spectacular scheming... Everything was impeccable. One of my absolute favourites

This was a wonderful story. I love the bringing together of those characters we already know and love, and really look forward to future books. The narration was wonderful, as usual, and adds so much life to these characters and stories. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Another great instalment from KJ

Petition for Cornell Collins to do all KJ Charles narration please and thank you. While most of the other readers are at least competent, Martyn Swain who readers the Doomsday books is unbearable. Please get Collins to do the next one.

KJ Charles and Cornell Collins, the perfect combination

Five stars all round. I love everything about this. Which was too brief so here’s an extra sentence.

Yay, Cornell Collins is reading KJ Charles again!

I found the book lacked the bite of others by KJ Charles, It's Bridgerton for gays. Cornell Collins is superb as always but he had no gritty characters to portray to my disappointment.

Sweet
