The story is quite depressing, as it revolves around a group of students struggling with mental health issues who experiment with hallucinogenic substances in search of a potential cure. As you might expect, this narrative lacks joy, and I found it to be somewhat drawn out.

The concept is interesting and definitely unique, particularly the recipe for the hallucinogen. However, I had difficulty connecting with the main protagonist, or caring whether she succeeded in achieving her goal at the end.

At the end, the final twist was quite a surprise, and the finale was a dramatic cliff hanger leaving the opportunity for a second book perhaps.

Far out- as expected.

Omgs what a story!! A total and utter twist at the end!! Not my normal go to genre but the story had me hooked!! High recommend!!

I found the music to begin with quite distracting and didn’t understand the purpose of it. The performance felt like GCSE drama at some points and the story was just a bit silly. Quite predictable too, however, it occupied me for a few hours. Worth a listen because it was free. I’d of been disappointed if I’d have used a credit for it.

The use of psychedelics in the treatment of mental health is currently still controversial. Substances such as psilocybin and MDMA are being prescribed by specifically authorised psychiatrists as part of clinical trials to treat serious mental health conditions. The book is an interesting take on this treatment. I found the characters well rounded. The author is knowledgeable and the story is well paced. This audible production is very well produced and has a first class narrator. The use of music does not detract from the storyline and makes the entire performance feel more like a play. I do recommend this book as a change from the usual run of the mill storyline.
