THERE ARE TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY. WHICH ONE WILL YOU BELIEVE?

'Addictively readable. Absorbing, bittersweet' Pandora Sykes

Gripping and emotional, THE DIVORCE explores the unravelling of a marriage from first the wife, then the husband's point of view.

Together for more than thirty years, Bea and Niklas live a comfortable life in Stockholm. But one evening, following a trivial argument, Niklas disappears. Weeks pass before it emerges that he has met someone else. To Bea's horror, he insists they must divorce.

But is this divorce really coming out of the blue? Is the person who does the leaving always the one at fault? What emerges once you begin scratching the surface?

'Compelling, emotional, thought-provoking'

'Pulls back a curtain on a long marriage, a close family, and in one moment reveals the devastating truth that has been hiding in plain sight. Moa Herngren writes with such compassion and insight, bringing the characters so vividly to life that their emotions and passions become our own. I love this novel'

A compelling portrait of a marriage in trouble. This emotional deep-dive proves there are indeed two sides to every story. Thought-provoking.

C’était très emotionelle; une histoire très relevant dans la societé ces jours, il y svait toujours des questionnes- qu’est ce que ce passé auparavant dans la relation/ le frère de protagonist

Very relevant, in many ways a good help to understand the inner self, the history we all carry

A book that touches on the experience of many but rarely shared in such an eloquent manner. Highly recommended.

I thought it was a really well constructed and an honest account of how a marriage can fall apart and struggle to find its way back. I did find myself being very frustrated at times with the wife’s reaction to the breakdown of her marriage, when she had the opportunity to confront her husband and tell him how she felt, I felt that the character was held back, in reality I think she would of said more. I also felt that the wife was the only character who consistently had a hard time, this poor woman, lost her family, her home and way of life in very quick succession and was punished for not accepting this and staying quiet! I found myself screaming at her to fight back, especially as the other women seems quite happy to replace her in every aspect of her life.
This is not to say that I did not feel empathetic to husband’s point of view, I was, but there was never an opportunity to hold him to account for his own actions, gaslighting his ex wife all the way through the story.
Overall it was an interesting take on everyone involved going through this process .

A very true account of how a marriage can quickly lose its way
