You see, I've heard of a man that can bring him back from the dead and I'll do anything to hold him in my arms again. Kieran was my world until his ended. But then there he is. Tall, dark and brooding, but he's not the one I'm here to see. He's not the one that can bring Kieran back to me.
Something about him, though. I can't explain how he brings a long-forgotten smile to my face, how my stone-cold heart beats a little faster.

I really enjoy listening to books I've already read and, for the most part, this was no exception.
Mal and Jason's attraction comes across beautifully and that attraction burns bright through the book. Jason's pain in his grief is powerful and that comes across, painfully so. Made me cry a bit. You don't get the same experience reading and listening and I love that I fell in love with Mal and Jason all over again.
My only niggle, and it really is a personal point I need to make.
The narrator is new to me, Caius Ashburn. He is not new to narrating, but new to narrating MM books.
My niggle is this. Some of the voices were too close, so very nearly the same, for me to fully distinguish between them. I had to rewind a bit a couple of times.
BUT!!
Since this is the first time I've listened to this narrator, I will listen to other work by him.
So, for the narration, 4 stars

This book is part of the Possessive Love series, some 14 books by different authors. I've not read any of them, I've no idea how they connect, if at all, therefore, I didn't miss anything byt not doing so. I might go back, when that magical thing called time allows, but not because I have to, because I want to.
Mal is a demon undertaker. Jason crosses his path when Mal's brother, Zeke, offers to raise Jason's dead husband. Mal is drawn to the human, and he doesn't know why. When a demon from Mal's past makes an ultimatum, Mal knows he cannot commit to another demon as their mate, not when Jason is his.
Mal doesn't like humans, he works in the background of their business for that reason. So being drawn to Jason comes as a shock. Jason is still grieving after 18 months. There is no time limit to grief but Jason can't move on. Not yet. But Mal? Mal makes Jason feel for the first time in a long time, something other than pain.
I loved that neither man nor demon can point WHY they are drawn to each other, but they do run with it. I love that Jason, especially, runs with it. He takes the time to think, but things get dicey with Mal's ex. THEN Jason steps up and fully and totally commits.
It's dark and deadly: Mal and Zeke are demons afterall. It's funny and cute; it's emotional and so smexy. It's one of those books that delivers what it promised but you don't know what it's promising til you read it, you know??
Adams is an author I have followed from the very beginning. I can honestly say, I'm loving the newer stuff she writes, as she continues to hone her craft. THIS book was no exception. THIS is my favourite book so far. I'm fairly certain, I'll be saying that for the next one too!
