A compelling saga of an unlikely friendship threaded together by redemption and grace.

Dean of the cathedral in an 1870s English town, Adam Ayscough is respected and misunderstood. A dogged crusader against corruption, he’s also acutely shy. When his watch breaks, he forms an unlikely friendship with watchmaker Isaac Peabody, who doesn’t think he has anything in common with God. Will their relationship open the door to grace?

This captivating Christian historical fiction novel features:

  • An immersive setting of 19th century England

  • Rich themes of faith, friendship, and the redemptive power of love

  • Beautiful prose that invites readers into the lives of these memorable townspeople

I love the story and its depth of how life and love manifests in people.
I found the narrator to be reading a little too fast but I slowed it down on the speed and it was better.
I would’ve preferred the narration to be in a British accent. The characters accents were British so I don’t see why the main narration had to be in American.
Otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed it and was sorry that it ended.

A beautiful story

A lovely story about the people who lived and worked in the shadow of an English cathedral . So why do we have to have an American reader , and not an English reader . l had so looked forward to listening to The Deans Watch . l have loved this book from a child , and as l can no longer see to read easily . My disappointment is huge .

So Disappointing .
